ArmInfo.Baku consistently fails every initiative aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh Republic Karen Mirzoyan stated this on September 18 in the fields of the 6th Armenia-Diaspora Forum.
According to Mirzoyan, despite the numerous efforts of the two Armenian states, as well as the OSCE MG mediators, Azerbaijan continues its militaristic policy, setting a goal to solve the issue by military means and to please itself.
As the NKR Foreign Minister noted, starting from the April aggression of 2016, Baku has consistently increased the degree of escalation on the contact line between the Artsakh and Azerbaijani Armed Forces, thus trying to ruin any initiative on the way to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. In addition, according to Mirzoyan, Baku continues the policy of militarism and the development of xenophobic sentiments among the Azerbaijani population, thereby jeopardizing the entire process of peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
Mirzoyan also expressed concern over the arms race initiated by Baku, which could jeopardize the security of the whole region. Under the current conditions, as the minister stressed, in order to curb the belligerent encroachments of Azerbaijan, the NKR is forced to pay more attention to the modernization of its defense system.
