ArmInfo. The opinion of Serzh Sargsyan about the sale of arms to Azerbaijan is a speech of a man who surrendered to whims of fate, ex NKR Foreign Minister, independent analyst Arman Melikyan expressed such opinion to ArmInfo.
"Noting that the supply of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan is a painful aspect of the relations between Russia and Armenia, Sargsyan hopes for the absence of serious consequences, believing that it will be possible to blame Moscow only in case of their occurrence, which is nothing more than a result of a certain helplessness," he noted.
Melikyan does not exclude that if "serious consequences" do arise, it will be too late to correct them. In other words, the matter can reach a national disaster. On this background, people responsible for the security of Armenia are in helpless condition and are ready to entrust its accidents.
"These people are ready to convince themselves and us that if nothing tragic has happened this day, it is sufficient guarantee that such behavior of Russia will not lead Armenia to disasters in the future." In my opinion, it's not worth to behave like this. Relations with Moscow, even for the current Armenian authorities are not solved, there are no vital issues, "the analyst concluded.
Earlier, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan described the supply of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan as a "painful aspect of the relations between Russia and Armenia." "This issue casts a shadow on many things, but on the other hand, there are circumstances, and perhaps they are unacceptable for us, but acceptable to them." If there are no serious consequences, we should consider this a long-term political activity of Russia in stabilizing the situation in region, "he said.
At the same time, Sargsyan considers calls to review relations with Russia because of the supply of Russian weapons to Azerbaijan dangerous. "These are extremely dangerous words, they can create a very bad situation, with whom do you want to reconsider and improve relations with Turkey? Or do they all wait for Armenia with open arms in NATO or should we be at enmity with all who help Azerbaijan?" Sargsyan wondered.
