ArmInfo.Vice Speaker of Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov in practice ruled out the resumption of large-scale military operations at the zone of Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.
"This is also due to the previous meeting between Putin and Trump, which once again proved that international attention is focused on the situation in Syria. Today, no one will allow Azerbaijan to ignite another hotbed of war next to the Syrian region. However, as long as Azerbaijan does not return to the constructive course of the talks, nothing can be ruled out and similar situations like previous year's April "four-day war" and the previous July events where Baku used its own people as a human shield are not ruled out. But Azerbaijan should understand that all provocations will be stopped by Armenian side and the Azerbaijani side will be many times more as a result of the clashes, "Sharmazanov said at a press conference in Yerevan on July 12. And in this context, he added that Azerbaijan has already become accustomed to periodically aggravate the situation at the contact line of the Karabakh-Azerbaijani troops.
According to him, in Armenia, morally should be ready for the development of any situation, right up to the war. And in this context, he made parallels with Israel, and noticed that people live there in the war, and got used to the fact that people walk around the street with weapons in their hands.
At the same time, he stressed that Turkey and Azerbaijan are the main threat to security and stability in the region. "Even if in the foreseeable future, Karabakh conflict will be resolved, in the global sense there are no guarantees that Azerbaijan and Turkey will not foment a new aggression, as they do not digest the presence of Armenians in the region with panic , which is constantly being announced by the leaders of these countries. Therefore, we must understand that we are surrounded from two sides by enemy neighbors, from whom we can expect anything, " Sharmazanov said.
He also said that Russia and Turkey in fact are not allies, and first rivals in the region, however, today they cooperate, each of them from the point of view of their interests.
