ArmInfo. The court session scheduled for 11:00 on the case of Jirayr Sefilyan and his associates accused of illegal acquisition, storage and use of weapons and ammunition began with a half-hour delay caused by delays when the law enforcers examined the personal belongings of the defendants' lawyers.
However, immediately after the beginning of the meeting, the presiding judge Tatevik Grigoryan announced a break due to the fact that the defendants Zhirayr Sefilyan and Nerses Poghosyan were removed from the courtroom because they refused to stand at the beginning of the trial. At the last meeting, Gevorg Safaryan was dismissed from the courtroom for his conversations during the court session.
These actions of the judge caused the wrath of the relatives of the accused. The meeting is scheduled for 12:30
It should be noted that the lawyers of the defendants Tigran Hayrapetian, Araik Papikyan, Tigran Egorian, and Nina Karapetyants refused to pass proper examination of personal stuff, in connection with which, they were not allowed to enter the courtroom.
Lawyer Inna Karapetyants is convinced that law enforcement officers demonstrate prejudiced attitudes to the lawyers of the accused, conducting such checks.
To mention, the police checks all persons who came to the court session and registers their passport data. Human rights activists are convinced that these actions are illegal and are aimed at identifying all the supporters of Sefilyan. They also do not rule out their possible further persecution
It should be noted that Heritage party leader Raffi Hovhannisyan has also attended the session.
It should be noted that Sefilyan was detained on June 20, 2016 on suspicion of organizing a criminal group. Based on the evidence obtained by the investigation, 8 persons were charged with acquiring and storing weapons and ammunition, 6 were arrested, and one was put on the wanted list. According to the special investigation committee of Armenia, Sefilyan and his supporters planned to occupy buildings of state significance during the April war. As a preventive measure, the arrest was chosen.
