ArmInfo. The idea of shifting any of co chairmen of OSCE MG on Karabakh settlement by EU is unsuccessful and has no prospect both from legal, and political point of view, NKR MFA ex-head, independent analyst Arman Meliqyan stated.
"Even if official Washington will come out with such initiative, I do not think, they will insist on this issue in particular, given the extreme vulnerability of the existing argument in favor of this decision. Apparently, Mr. Bryza does not remember that the US, Russia and France are co-chairs of the Minsk Group precisely because of their membership in OSCE, which assumed the functions of supporting the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Artsakh conflict, "the analyst said.
Earlier, USA ex-Ambassador to Azerbaijani, ex-deputy General Secretary of South Caucasus Mathew Bryza voiced the need to raise the level of international cooperation on the settlement of the Karabakh issue. In particular, he considers Karabakh as a problem on which the US president could interact with Russia. The diplomat believes that to achieve a breakthrough, the presidents of Russia and the United States must participate in the process.
Meliqyan thinks that the supporters of the EU participation in the Karabakh settlement should make this issue the topic of discussions, first of all in the relevant structures of EU itself. And only after their positive outcome it will be possible to apply with an appropriately formulated proposal to the parties of the conflict, who are not EU members.
