ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia does not accept accusations from political opponents regarding mass bribery of voters, the widespread use of administrative levers and falsifications during the elections to the Yerevan Council of Elders.
As RPA deputy chairman Armen Ashotyan stated at a press conference today, all these accusations are unfounded and they do not have any evidence. "I have not seen a single video material in which someone gives money to someone and persuades him to vote for a candidate. And as for those video clips in which people are depicted leaving the RPA campaign headquarters with money, I can say that these were our employees who received their salary," assured Ashotyan.
He also accused the media, the opposition and observers of prejudice against the RPA. Ashotyan also noted that opposition candidates for mayors, by virtue of low rating, tried to raise themselves, arranging political shows and denigrating the RPA. The deputy chairman also noted that about 350 000 Yerevan residents voted in the elections, while about 10 violations were reported. "If even all 10 are confirmed, this will not affect the outcome of the elections," he said. To note, however, that as of 18:00, the Police has already registered 41 signals about violations.
Ashotyan also said that the RPA spent about 97 million AMD for the pre-electoral campaign, 100 million from the lawful ones.
