ArmInfo. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov commented on the prospects of holding a meeting of the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders.
"At the tripartite talks of the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia on Nagorno-Karabakh, the meeting of the presidents was not discussed," Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov told APA. According to him, the decision on the meeting should be taken directly by the heads of state.
When asked about the evaluation of the talks, Mammadyarov said that it was reflected in the statement adopted at the end of the meeting. "We, ministers, will report on the results of the tripartite meeting to the heads of state," he said.
To remind, on the initiative of the Russian side on April 28, a working meeting of Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov on the Karabakh settlement was held in Moscow. As the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reports, the meeting continued discussion of the prospects for the promotion of the negotiation process on the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement. The need to implement the agreements reached at the summits in Vienna and St. Petersburg in April and June 2016 was stressed. The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Azerbaijan and Armenia expressed gratitude to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov for his efforts to contribute to the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno- Karabakh conflict. The ministers agreed to continue contacts on all the issues discussed. As a result of the tripartite talks between the ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia, they met with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - the ambassadors of Russia, the United States and France, as well as the representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, during which they exchanged views on the state of affairs in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.
