ArmInfo.Recognition of other options available for Karabakh confict settlement ( and such Expert: Recognition of other options available for Karabakh confict settlement is a political suicide for those who stands for giving up territories to get the peace.options do exist, of course) is a political suicide for those who stands for giving up territories to get the peace. Such an opinion was stated by independent expert Arman Melikyan, the Ex-Foreign Minister of NKR.
Recently in his interview to the First Public channel Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the First President of Armenia, voiced the provisions of Karabakh conflict settlement similar to those declared by actual authorities in the negotiations process held within the framework of Madrid Principles. Meanwhile Baku never voices such a readiness for compromises even at the level of secondary politicians, needless to say about the authorities.
"Stating that Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities are unable to affect the approaches of co-chair countries, and nothing depends on those two, Ter-Petrosyan obviously tries to cancel all the offenses in respect to former and actual authorities blamed for inactivity, including himself. Meanwhile, the capsulation of the negotiations agenda excluding the one-hand abatements of Artsakh was pretty possible, " the expert is sure.
Acoording to the expert estimates, Ter-Petrosyan has never developed any optional concept of Armenian state policies in respect to Artsakh assuming the protection of all its territories. And, to me personally the insistence of First Armenian President and his followers stating that their position has no any optional approaches could be estimated only as counterproductive and for that very reason - very dangerous. In time, having an option to communicate to Minsk Group co-chairs within the framework of settlement process, I could say that all the co-chairs pay serious attention to advices of both parties . And it is very big mistake to accuse them in the vulnerability of own positions in the negotiations. I am sure that now is also not late to make corrections to the negotiations process, proceeding of Artsakh and Armenia interests. There are all the possibilities for that existing now, just as those existed before, " the expert summarized.
The Karabakh conflict settlement is conducted by OSCE Minsk Group from 1992. The group is represented by Russian, Frecnch and US co-chairs. Currently the settlement negotiations process is being conducted based on the principles proposed by co-chairs in Madrid in 2007 and modified in 2009, assuming also the peace forces mobilization in the zone of the conflict.
