ArmInfo.Armenia tries to build up the system of national interest based not on opposing the interests of global and national players, but on compounding those,  Vigen Sargsyan,  the Atmrnian Defence Minister, stated while  delivering a speech at the session of Valday International   Discussions Club in Yerevan.

He mentioned that under current  conditions the countries with  restricted territorial and demographic resources face many  difficulties. " The zone of the increased turbulence in the region  contains many risks. 

Proceeding of that, we try to build up the system of national  interest based not on opposing the interests of global and national  players, but on compounding those," Sargsyan accentuated. In his  opinion, without deep cooperation, without comparing the options and  searching for solutions Armenia will feel the increase of external  threats. 

Referring to the relations at international level, the Minister  considers the strategic union with Russia as a basic condition,  mentioning that the alliance is stated  both in many  bilateral  documents and international format Agreements, particularly - CSTO.  "We are really confident that this organization could take a  honorable place  in the framework of international relations.   Sometimes it may be observed yet, that CSTO denies any of its  members' interests  while acting at other platforms. But it is a  "kids illness", that could be treated within the time," Sargsyan  mentioned. 

 Defense Minister stated also that CSTO membership does not oppose to  the close  cooperation with Northern-Atlantic entities, particularly  with NATO,  within the framework of the Partnership for Peace  Project. According to the Minister, thjis cooperation is quite open,  transparent and understood by all the partners of Armenia and there  is nothing secret in that.
