ArmInfo. Realizing the need to search for successor candidacy and the ability of Serzh Sargsyan implement that inspires great doubts, Alexander Skakov, the Coordinator of Working Team of RF Oriental Studies Center Caucasus Depatment, recently visited Armenia, states.
In my opinion, the vast majority of Armenian and Artsakh citizens are indifferent to Serzh Sargsyan as the better, and negatively as the worst. At the same time, there are no reputable and trustworthy optional political forces observed in Armenia. Under the conditions of transition to the parliamentary system of administration in Armenia, the majority of citizens do not want to see Sargsyan neither as a President nor as a Prime Minister, and not even as the leader of ruling Republican Party. But, within the presence of administrative resource and availability to falsify the results of elections, there is no option observed by now," the expert accentuates.
Within all this conditions the situation in Armenia could not be considered as sustainable, which, according to Skakov, could impact in the future also the situation in Karabakh. He mentioned also the concerns of Karabakh people regarding the absence of peace in the region. According to the expert, in Artsakh, in Armenia and in many other regions of post soviet area the impact of global economic crisis is felt, but the authorities are too busy with the issue of self-reproduction at the upcoming parliamentary elections, which is not that easy thing to do, considering their lowest political rate.
" On the other hand, proceeding from 2016 results, the top of economic crisis in Armenia and Artsakh is already passed. At the same time, the economic crisis often has a "postponed impact", i.e. after country escaped the critical situation, the population feels like life is growing harder and harder," the expert summarized.
