ArmInfo.The election passions in Armenia are running high, with candidates having scuffles in Yerevan and Ararat province.
In Yerevan, an incident occurred between the parliamentary candidates from the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) in the 2nd constituency Tavros Gevorgyan and Arman Sahakyan, the son of the Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan and concurrently the head of the State Property Management Department.
In Ararat province, a scuffle occurred between the supporters of an RPA candidate (the owner of Avshar company, brother of Ararat Governor Araik Grigoryan) and the supporters of the Tsarukyan bloc candidate (Artashat mayor Argam Abrahamyan, who is the son of ex-prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan and the son- in-law of Gahik Tsarukyan).
Yesterday in Ararat province the supporters of RPA candidate Murad Muradyan injured one of the Prosperous Armenia Party members with a knife. The latter underwent surgery at Erebuni medical center in Yerevan. Now his condition is moderate.
It is noteworthy that Murad Muradyan and his supporters recently had one more scuffle with Muradyan's party fellow Araik Grigoryan. After the incident the President and RPA leader Serzh Sargsyan called the candidates and told them to stop their scuffles. Nevertheless, the incidents between the candidates are still going on.
Recently, right after the meeting held by the President, RPA candidate Bazmaser Arakelyan beat one of the ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party members in Aragatsotn province.
To note, the official electoral campaign in Armenia has not started yet. It kicks off on March 6. 9 political forces will run in the parliamentary elections scheduled for April 2.
