ArmInfo. No pressure is being exerted on me today regarding the upcoming parliamentary elections, Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan said during a press- conference on February 27 in Yerevan, when asked whether he is afraid of any pressure related to the upcoming elections.
"I suppose there can be no pressure at all. My actions are not limited. During the upcoming parliamentary elections, our work will be based on impartiality, transparency and publicity," said Tatoyan. At the same time he added that during parliamentary elections his office will be working round-the-clock.
Tatoyan informed that a new working group consisted of 20 people has been set up to respond to the complaints, alarms, and media reports. "We have no mandate to carry out observation activities at the elections, but in case of alarms, complaints or other negative phenomena, our employees will act at the scene. The main emphasis will be put on rapid response to the received alarms and their complete and well- timed investigation. We also focus on protection of the rights of journalists and observers," Tatoyan pointed out. In this context, he recalled that recently he has met with OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission and they have agreed on close cooperation.
