ArmInfo.OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier is concerned over the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone.
At the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Lamberto Zannier said that he met with the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers on the margins of the Munich Security Conference and discussed with them the situation in the conflict zone. He also recalled that serious escalation occurred there last year, resulting in the biggest number of fatalities since the ceasefire establishment. There are still heavy weapons in that territory and this causes fatalities among civilians, Lamberto Zannier said, expressing his concern about it. He pointed out that the OSCE wants to increase the number of members of the monitoring mission and to launch the investigative mechanisms, but the sides should give their consent to that.
