ArmInfo.France should support all initiatives aimed at recognition of the Armenian Genocide, including the initiatives in Turkey, French President Francois Hollande said, when addressing the Coordination Council of Armenian Organizations in France (Conseil de Coordination des organisations Armeniennes de France).
As Nouvelle d'Armenie reports, President Hollande thinks that Turkey should move towards recognition of the Genocide. He also pointed out the importance of the Armenian Genocide recognition by the German Bundestag and stressed the significant role of Bundestag President Norbert Lammert and Bundestag member of Turkish origin Cem Ozdemir in this matter. In this context, the French President also spoke of Turkish Parliament member of Armenian origin Garo Paylan, who raised the Armenian Genocide issue at the Turkish Parliament. Francois Hollande recalled that during his visit to Turkey he met with the widow of Armenian-Turkish "Agos" weekly editor Hrant Dink, who was killed 10 years ago. President Hollande emphasized that France should support all initiatives aimed at recognition of the Armenian Genocide no matter what country these initiatives belong to. "This issue should be raised in Turkey, which should take efforts towards recognition. A number of countries support us in promoting this issue," he said.
