ArmInfo. The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affaires Edward Nalbandian assured that all the political forces of France are unanimous in the issue of recognition and conviction of the Armenian Genocide. He made the remark when answering to ArmInfo correspondent's question related to the French Constitutional Council's decision to declare resolution the law for criminalization of denial of the Armenian Genocide contradicting to the Constitution.
"It's important that French political forces are unanimous in their position on Genocide's recognition and conviction. France is the state, which has recognized it on the level of law", he said. To note, French Constitutional Court has declared the provision of Senate's resolution on criminalization of Armenian Genocide invalid. The Court has stressed that the provision particularly restricts freedom of speech. To recall, this is the second time when the Constitutional Court of France has declared Senate's resolution on criminalization of the Armenian Genocide contradicting to Constitution. First time this happened in 2012. Later the French parliamentarians initiated new amended resolution. However, the adoption of it led to discontent of the Turkish community of France, which has applied to the Constitutional Court asking to study the legitimacy of the given resolution.
