ArmInfo. Russian Government submitted the Draft Agreement on Joint Military Group with Armenia for Russian President's approval, This is stated at Russia's legal information portal official website. The Russian Government Decision claims: "To approve Draft Agreement on Joint Military Group with Armenia, developed in cooperation with Armenian part and to submit it to the President's approvel" According to the Draft Agreement, within the purpose of safety Russia and Armenia in the area of collective security will set up a joint military group of two countries, which should be able to secure "an adequate reaction to any armed attack (aggression), as well asto any other threats and challenges".
Ministries of Defense of two countries will develop and get approved by their Supreme Commanders all the proposals on Joint Group operations. They also will define the structure of the Group. To organize the interaction between Russian and Armenian Forces under conditions of direct aggression threat and in combat, it is planned to send in such cases an operative groups to the Staff of Russian Military Contingent and to the General Staff of Armenian Army.
According to the Draft Statutes on Joint Military Group, its Commander will be appointed by the Supreme Commander of Armenia within the concordance with Russian Supreme Commander. The Document also states that each Party will maintain and fund its personnel and facilities within the Joint Group.
The Draft accentuates that "This Agreement is not to oppose any third countries." The Agreement is subject to sign for 5-year term with a possible default extension, if no one of the Parties expresses an intention to cancel.
