ArmInfo. A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons was held under the chairmanship of Andranik Simonyan, Director of the National Security Service of Armenia. ArmInfo. Veronika Zonabend, the wife of Ruben Vardanyan, has announced a new humanitarian initiative aimed at restoring contact between Armenian detainees held in Azerbaijan and their families. he full text is provided below:

ArmInfo. Both Armenia and Azerbaijan face issues related to missing persons, and these matters must be resolved through mutual cooperation, as stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  during a press-briefing on June 11. He also noted that such cooperation not only institutionalizes peace  but also closes a painful chapter in the conflict.

ArmInfo.During a meeting in Yerevan, the Secretary of the Armenian Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, and the Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delegation in Armenia, Daphne Mare, discussed the  details of ongoing programs implemented within the framework of bilateral cooperation.

ArmInfo.  Relatives and representatives of Armenian detainees unlawfully held in Azerbaijan have sent a letter to Armenia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ararat  Mirzoyan; the Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of  the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis; and the President of the  International Committee of the Red Cross, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger,  requesting the activation of the Protecting Power mechanism within  the framework of international humanitarian law. This was reported by  the "Center for International and Comparative Law," headed by  Siranush Sahakyan, the representative of Armenian prisoners of war at  the European Court of Human Rights.

Veronika Zonabend, the wife of former Artsakh state minister and philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison in Azerbaijan, has addressed a letter to Mirjana Spoljaric-Egger, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), drawing attention to the legal status of Armenian  prisoners held in Azerbaijan.

ArmInfo.Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisogomonyan and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Vice-President Gilles Carbonnier emphasized the importance of resolving all humanitarian issues at a meeting in Geneva in the context of post-conflict reconstruction and  reconciliation.

ArmInfo.  Speaker of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) Parliament Ashot Danielyan sent an open letter to US Vice President J.D. Vance to draw attention to the grave humanitarian injustice and urgent political responsibility following Azerbaijan's violent seizure of Artsakh.

ArmInfo. Artsakh Ombudsman Gegham Stepanyan and head of the Artsakh Union NGO Artak Beglaryan addressed an open letter to US Vice President J.D. Vance, calling on him to raise the issue of the missing persons during his visit to Baku and demand the release of all Armenian prisoners of war.

ArmInfo. Armenian Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan discussed with Daphne Marais, Head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Armenia, issues related to the joint action plan between the Ministry of Defense and the ICRC Delegation in Armenia for 2025-2026.

ArmInfo. On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan met with Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the  International Committee of the Red Cross.

ArmInfo.  The transfer of Syrian mercenaries and the return of Armenian prisoners occurred simultaneously, and this is open to different interpretations. In any case, this is an extremely important process, and we welcome the  return of every Armenian-there can be no other opinion. Siranush  Sahakyan, head of the Center for International and Comparative Law  and representative of Armenian prisoners at the European Court of  Human Rights (ECHR), stated this during a press conference on January  17.

ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities' attempts to conceal the health problems of Armenians who have returned from Azerbaijani captivity indicate that the ruling Armenian regime continues to shape processes in Armenian society  toward a picture of reality that is convenient for the Azerbaijani  side. Artsakh security expert Alen Ghulyan expressed this opinion on  his Facebook page in connection with the transfer of four prisoners  held by Azerbaijan to the Armenian side.

ArmInfo. Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II responded to the transfer of four prisoners of war by Azerbaijan to Armenia, calling for the release of all Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku on trumped-up charges.

ArmInfo. The Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) is calling for increased U.S. efforts to secure the immediate and unconditional release of at least 19 Armenian prisoners of war who remain in Azerbaijan's unlawful  detention, following today's release of four Armenian hostages in  exchange for two convicted Syrian mercenaries.

ArmInfo.  The fate of 1,300 Armenians who went missing during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict from the late 1980s to 2023 remains unclear, as stated by Anna  Melikyan, human rights expert and representative of the  "Protection  of Rights Without Borders" NGO during  a press conference in Yerevan.

ArmInfo. Armenian authorities have arrested for a month the uncle of Arsen Ghukasyan, a soldier missing in action in the 44-day war. National Assembly member Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the opposition "I Have the Honor" faction, announced this on his Facebook account. 

ArmInfo.Following the start of yesterday's protest by the relatives of missing servicemen and hostages outside the Ministry of Defense, the latter were offered  a meeting with Deputy Minister and Deputy Chairman of the  Interdepartmental Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and  Missing Persons Arman Sargsyan, and then with the Chief of the  Operational Main Directorate of the General Staff of the RA Armed  Forces - Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Major General Temur  Shahnazaryan.
