ArmInfo. The motor rally of the protest movement "Tavush in the name of the Motherland" has started  in Gyumri.

ArmInfo.The protest movement in Armenia has two components: objective and artificial, external, associated with Russia. This opinion was expressed in an interview with the opposition Russian TV channel Dozhd by Stepan Grigoryan, director of the Armenian Center for Globalization and Regional Cooperation.

ArmInfo.The presence of Russian border troops in Armenia is justified in every possible way and this  has been proven by time, since the threats emanating from the neighboring state were neutralized. First commander of the border troops of Armenia, Major General Levon Stepanyan, stated in response  to ArmInfo's question of how high is the probability of the withdrawal of Russian border troops from Armenia today and whether Armenia is capable of independently ensuring the protection of its borders on the Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Iranian border.

ArmInfo.Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova responded to the  situation in Armenia due to flooding in the north of the country.  Zakharova's commentary notes that on May 25-26, a month's worth of precipitation fell in the northern regions of Armenia. "There are reports of casualties, missing persons and severe property damage."

ArmInfo.The centenary of the Gyumri border detachment is a significant event, not only in terms of  the number of years, but also because it brings such an intermediate result to the important, glorious path of this detachment, which was established in 1924. Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin stated on May 20 in a conversation with journalists at an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Gyumri (Leninakan) border detachment.

ArmInfo.Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan gave a manipulative answer to the question whether the Armenian side asked Moscow for Russian border guards to continue guarding the Armenian-Iranian and Armenian-Turkish borders, as stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

ArmInfo.Moscow sees a lot of speculation regarding the meeting of the leaders of Armenia and  Russia in Moscow on May 8. This was stated on May 15 during a weekly briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in response to clarification as to whether it could be assumed that Moscow offered Pashinyan to completely withdraw Russian troops from the Republic of Armenia.

ArmInfo. Yerevan requested to withdraw  the temporary operative forces of the Russian border  guards. This was announced on May 14 by Alexander Bortnikov, a candidate for the post of director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia. "Such a decision has been made," noted the head of the FSB.

ArmInfo.The "Shirak for the Motherland" movement is currently holding a car rally in Gyumri in  support for the residents of Tavush.

ArmInfo.Actions of disobedience have started in Armenia directed against the policies pursued by the current authorities of Armenia. Citizens oppose the unilateral concessions of the Armenian authorities to Azerbaijan.  Citizens took to the streets in support of Tavush and, as a step of disagreement with the policy of the Armenian authorities, blocked the Yerevan-Gyumri, Yerevan-Meghri, Yerevan-Sevan roads.

ArmInfo.Human rights NGOs in Armenia, with the support of a number of Russian liberal platforms,  began to "disperse" information that the military police of the 102nd Russian base detained another Russian deserter - Anatoly Shchetinin in Gyumri. But is everything so clear in this story? As ArmInfo learned from the competent law enforcement agencies, everything that is said around this case is not true.

ArmInfo.The presence of the 102nd base and Russian border guards is the only real guarantee of  Armenia's sovereignty. This was stated by the Russian Foreign Ministry when asked to comment on the provisions of the "Deepening EU-Armenia Relations:

ArmInfo.The situation created in Armenian-Russian relations does not inspire optimism due to the  position of the Armenian leadership, which deliberately destroys relations with Russia. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on March 28 in an interview with Izvestia.
