ArmInfo. A Center for Data Collection and Processing and a Seismic Geodynamic Network will open  at the A. Nazarov Institute of Geophysics and Engineering Seismology (Gyumri) as part of the Armenian-Chinese cooperation. This information was reported to ArmInfo by the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA).

ArmInfo.The President of Belarus himself spoke about this publicly, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan pointed out on May 19 in a conversation with journalists commenting on the statement made by  the 2nd President Robert Kocharyan that Belarus and Russia never offered Armenia to join the Union State.

The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has found out that a candidate from a bloc of  parties participating in the snap elections for the Council of Elders in the Gyumri community on March 30, 2025, promised an electoral bribe to a resident of Gyumri in exchange for  participation in the elections, and for  recruiting voters to support the bloc of parties he represents.

ArmInfo. In total, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia has investigated 5 criminal cases (10 episodes) against L.A. (journalist Lilit Aghekyan - ed.), and currently 2 criminal cases (3 episodes) are at the preliminary investigation stage.

ArmInfo. Armenian students won silver medals at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad held  in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, from May 5 to 13.  A total of 190 students from 40 countries took part in the Olympiad, which was held in three stages (two theoretical and one practical).

ArmInfo.  The Union of Journalists of Armenia (UJA) issued a statement in connection with the arrest of journalist Lilit Agekyan in Gyumri.. The UJA statement notes that Agekyan was detained late in the evening of May 8.

ArmInfo. Shirak Region Governor David Arushanyan took part in the launch of festive events in Gyumri as part of the Europe Days in Armenia.

ArmInfo.  The current government in Armenia, as expected, will not miss the opportunity to carry out dirty maneuvers in Gyumri and will make many attempts to usurp power in the second largest city of Armenia. Lawyer Arsen Babayan wrote about this on his Facebook page, touching upon Karen Badalyan's decision to leave the "Our City" bloc and become an independent  member of the Council of Elders of Gyumri.

ArmInfo.  Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan called the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan a person with "the status of a Russian spy". "I don't have the facts, this is just my opinion, if I had the facts, I would have taken appropriate action," he said at a briefing in  parliament on May 5.

ArmInfo. A lawsuit for the confiscation of illegal property was filed against Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan back in August 2024. Prior to that, another case from 2019 was sent to court within the framework of criminal  proceedings.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian authorities do not spread words of hatred towards the internally displaced Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated to  journalists on April 21 by Vahagn Aleksanyan, a member of the  National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the ruling Civil  Contract faction.

ArmInfo.  The Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute (AGMI) acquired 50,000 archival materials in 2024-2025, which significantly expanded its scientific activities in the field of studying the Armenian Genocide. This was announced at a press conference in Yerevan on April 21 by AGMI Director Edita Gzoyan, in connection with preparations for the 110th anniversary of  the Armenian Genocide.

ArmInfo.  Elected mayor of Gyumri Vardan Ghukasyan officially assumed his duties. The oath-taking ceremony took place on April 19 in the second largest city of Armenia.  The inauguration ceremony began with a prayer, followed by  the playing of  the national anthem of the Republic of Armenia. The  opening ceremony was also attended by the head of the Shirak Diocese,  Archbishop Mikael Ajapahian. 

ArmInfo.  A candidate from a bloc of parties participating in the early elections of the Council of Elders of the Gyumri community scheduled for March 30, 2025, violated the ban on charity by promising voters money and goods under the guise of charity, the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia reports.

ArmInfo.  During the Antalya Diplomacy Forum Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan gave an interview to several Turkish media outlets. 

ArmInfo. Opposition candidate Vardan Ghukasyan, who headed the Communist Party list and received the most votes among the opposition, was re-elected Mayor of Gyumri.

ArmInfo.  The candidate for the post of mayor of Gyumri from the ruling Civil Contract party, acting mayor Sarik Minasyan believes that new, early elections should be held. He wrote about this on his Facebook page, emphasizing that the Civil Contract will not participate in the first meeting of the new  Council of Elders formed based on the results of the elections held  on March 30.

ArmInfo.  The "Civil Contract"  faction in Gyumri Council of Elders will make a statement presenting its position on its participation in the Council's activities, as stated by the Chairman of the RA National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, to  journalists on April 15.

ArmInfo. We have a very active Armenian- Turkish dialogue, as evidenced by contacts between the  parties at various levels. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated this in an interview with Turkish  NTV, touching upon the Armenian-Turkish normalization.
