ArmInfo.  The Armenian authorities have decided to extend the period for providing assistance to the families of missing servicemen by two months. The resolution was adopted on May 15 at a regular government meeting.

ArmInfo.The responsibility for the health servicemen, whether they have pre-existing conditions or  develop them during their military service, lies with the state. On May 13, Armenian Ombudsman Anahit Manasyan made this statement while speaking in parliament. She evaded the question of whether there are  statistics available on whether conscripts are more prone to entering service with illnesses or developing them during their time in the military.

ArmInfo.  Unfortunately, the National Security Service (NSS) of Armenia does not have intelligence data on the 1,160 missing persons in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, causing mistrust among their relatives. This was stated on May 8 at a press conference in Yerevan dedicated to  discussing the draft law "Who is considered "missing"? Long-awaited bill with shortcomings," by Artur  Sakunts, head of the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Citizens'  Assembly (HCA). 

ArmInfo.The National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Armenia hosted a presentation of a book by Kolya  Stepanyan, a participant in the 44-day war, titled "Where?" The book recounts the encirclement of Armenian servicemen by Azerbaijani forces and their miraculous rescue.  

ArmInfo.  The National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security held discussions related to the situation in the country's armed forces. This was announced at a meeting of the committee on May 5 by its head Andranik Kocharyan.

ArmInfo.   The Yerevan City Hall presented preferential packages for garbage collection payments. As David Hakobyan, Acting Head of the Yerevan City Hall Department for Accounting and Revenue Collection, noted during the meeting of the Council of Elders on April 22, the 100% discount will apply to certain groups of Yerevan residents. 

ArmInfo. Relatives of  servicemen killed during the defense of Artsakh in September 2023 have addressed an open letter to  former commander of the NKR Defense Army Kamo Vardanyan, demanding a response to the statements made by the MP from the ruling Civil Contract faction, Khachatur Sukiasyan. This is stated in Artsakh Info Center's message.

ArmInfo. The results of the certification of servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces cannot but cause concern. This was written on his Facebook page by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the National Assembly of the Republic of  Armenia from the opposition faction With Honor.

ArmInfo. On April 7, Motherhood and Beauty Day, a group of parents of missing Armenian servicemen held a silent protest outside the Armenian government building.  According to them, the goal of the protest was to demonstrate that the only holiday for parents is the return of their children.  The citizens who gathered at the Armenian government believe that their loved ones are being held in Baku prisons. At the same time, the participants of the protest accused the current authorities not taking any real action,  claiming that the Armenian government is  only making excuses  for their inaction  instead of actively working to secure the release of their missing servicemen.

ArmInfo. Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly touched upon the 4-day April war of 2016, unleashed by Azerbaijan against Artsakh. It is noteworthy that even  the Canadian diplomat remembers the events of those days, but the  Armenian authorities do not. The day before, on the anniversary of  the well-known events, not a single government body or its leader  bothered to recall the Azerbaijani aggression against Artsakh, which  took the lives of several dozen sons of the Armenian people who  fought for their homeland and the innocent residents of  Nagorno-Karabakh.

ArmInfo.Today, on behave of the Third President of the RA, Chairman of the RPA Serzh Sargsyan tribute was paid at the Erablur military pantheon to the memory of the fallen  heroes of the April 2016 victorious Four Day War and all sons of our  nation who gave their lives in the Artsakh liberation war.

ArmInfo. Artsakh lawyer Roman Yeritsyan has urged servicemen of the Artsakh Defense Army, who were denied compensation by the Armenian Defense Ministry for unused  vacations and weekend service to seek resolution through the court  syatem. Yeritsyan posted this on his Facebook page, emphasizing the  rights of Artsakh Defense Army servicemen. Yeritsyan recommended that  individuals encountering difficulties in hiring a lawyer to address  this matter to contact the Chamber of Advocates of Armenia with a  request for free legal assistance. 

ArmInfo. On March 21, Director of the National Security Service (NSS) Armen Abazyan shared details of the meeting of the commissions of Armenia and Azerbaijan on prisoners, hostages and missing persons in a conversation with journalists.  According to him, an agreement was reached to continue the work. He also met with the parents, who were informed about the results of the meeting. However, he did not go into details,

ArmInfo. During 2024, 13.5 thousand servicemen passed certification in the country's armed forces. This was announced on March 21 at a meeting of the RA  National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security Issues by RA  Defense Minister Suren Papikyan.

ArmInfo. A meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council was held in the Mother See of Holy  Etchmiadzin under the chairmanship of the Supreme Patriarch,  Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II.

ArmInfo.The Defense Ministry refuted the claims circulating on Armenian social networks regarding  the Armenian authorities' planning to send peacekeepers to Ukraine at the request of their European partners as false. ArmInfo  was informed of this by the press secretary of the Armenian Defense Ministry. Aram Torosyan.

From April 14 to July 31 inclusive, conscription for compulsory military and alternative service will be carried out in Armenia for those male citizens who  will turn 18 years old by June 30, 2025 inclusive, as well as those  citizens whose right to a deferment from conscription expires on June  30 of this year inclusive.

ArmInfo.After  identifying the remains of soldiers killed during the 44-day Artsakh war, only a  few funeral ceremonies  by  parents have recently taken place.  Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan told journalists about this during a briefing.

ArmInfo. Artsakh President Samvel Shahramanyan condemned the recent statements by the Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan, who said that "if the  people of Artsakh wanted a homeland, they would fight for it."
