ArmInfo.  Deputy Minister of  Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MoESCS) of Armenia Artur Martirosyan held a meeting with UNICEF Early Childhood Development  Adviser in Europe and Central Asia Ivelina Borisova, as well as with  UNICEF Adolescent and Youth Development Specialist in Europe and  Central Asia (formerly Head of the UNICEF Adolescent and Youth  Development Program in Azerbaijan - ed.) Aida Aylarova. 

ArmInfo. In 2025, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (MECS) of Armenia  intends to implement several major programs. This was stated by the head of the department Zhanna Andreasyan on October 29 during the hearings in the National Assembly committees on the draft state budget of the country for 2025.

ArmInfo.After the forced displacement of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh, more than 5,000  monuments and more than 20 museums have been faced with an existential threat in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, Armenia's Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan said at her meeting with Mr Rafik Mansour, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Bureau of Educational and  Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State.  Attending the meeting was also U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien. 

ArmInfo. Over the past seven years, progress has been made and good practices developed in the  field of inclusive education, migrant integration, and anti-discrimination legislation in Armenia.

ArmInfo. On June 30, 2022, the U.S. Embassy celebrated the 246th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America with an evening music, American food,  and fireworks.  At the event, U.S. Ambassador Lynne Tracy reaffirmed  U.S. support for democratic development in Armenia.

ArmInfo.The Armenian government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will allocate 986 million drams to implement the program to improve the seismic  conditions of schools (of which 80% - ADB loans, 20% - the  government). This is stated on the Facebook page of the Ministry of  Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia.

ArmInfo. The Armenian side counts on the support of international organizations, in particular the UN, in preserving the historical and cultural heritage in the  territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan as a result of  the 2020 war.

ArmInfo. Systemic problems have accumulated in the sphere of ensuring the right to education of children with disabilities. Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan stated this yesterday at the first meeting of the Public Council for the  Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities under the Human  Rights Defender.

ArmInfo.The RA Ombudsman received a number of complaints from students and their parents in connection with the resumption of classes from September 15, 2020 and the mandatory requirement for students to wear masks in schools. The office of the human rights defender informs about it.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia initiates the process of developing a clear state policy in the field of preschool  education.  At a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the  Armenian government approved a draft decision on introducing  amendments to the law "On Preschool Education" on September 19.

ArmInfo. Director of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, Silvia Montoya, noted that the Armenian authorities are trying to carry out reforms aimed at creating equal  conditions in education.

ArmInfo. The Ministry of Education and Science of Armenia made a statement on the revision of subject criteria in secondary schools in Armenia. As part of the program, the  Ministry announces the acceptance of applications from national experts.

On May 8, following the  U.S.-Armenia Strategic Dialogue in Yerevan, the United States Agency  for International Development (USAID) and the Government of Armenia  signed extensions to two bilateral agreements to support Armenia's  private sector and democratic development, the USATD press release  received by ArmInfo reports.

ArmInfo.There is great potential for strengthening and developing partnerships between Armenia and the United States in the field of education. On March 19, receiving the  US Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy, RA Minister of Education and  Science Arayik Harutyunyan said this.

ArmInfo. Only by developmentEducation and science can achieve sustainable, inclusive developmentand general welfare. This is stated in the draft program  of the government of Armenia, published on gov.am website.According  to the document, schools should become centers of development,  thereby contributing to the revival of the socio-cultural life of the  community. In the general educational sphere, the government's  priorities are: increasing the availability of pre-school education;  the introduction of an improved school management system; the  provision of food for all children in the lower grades, the  transition to universal inclusive education until 2023; giving a new  content to a 12-year education, revising the criteria and curricula,  stimulating creative thinking and the ability to analyze;  modernization of educational programs in accordance with the  requirements of the labor market; introduction of dual education  system.

The report focuses on women's rights, gender equality and domestic  violence; the human rights of disadvantaged or vulnerable groups; and  accountability for past human rights violations, the press service of  the Council of Europe reports.
