Geghard Foundation releases report on Azerbaijani army`s atrocities  in Artsakh

ArmInfo. On the occasion of the Day of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, the Geghard Foundation published a report testifying to the atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani army in Artsakh and Armenia, both in peacetime and wartime. In particular, the Foundation presented several stages concerning the periods of the 4-day April War of 2016 and the 44-day Artsakh War of  2020, and several cases registered during peacetime.

 Environmental and state damage amounted to 8.8 bln AMD in 2024

ArmInfo.The Environmental Protection and Mining Inspection Body (EPMIB) of Armenia estimates that the damage caused to the environment and the state in 2024 was 8.8 billion AMD. This was announced at the final press conference of 2024 by the head of the inspection, Hovhannes Martirosyan, who noted  that this figure had increased by 3 billion compared to the previous year.  Speaking about the risks, Martirosyan emphasized that in both 2023 and 2024, special attention was paid to three key areas: the use of water resources, subsoil and land protection. According to him,  the largest number of violations were recorded in these areas. Presenting the damage caused to the country in specific areas, Martirosyan noted that in the water resources sector, it amounted to 1.3 billion AMD, and in the illegal exploitation of subsoil and related mineral resources, it reached almost 1.7 billion AMD. 

Ardshinbank’ Nominal Forest Has Been Planted

ArmInfo.Ardshinbank, within the framework of a project implemented jointly with the “My Forest Armenia” public environmental organization, has financed the planting of a forest covering an area of ​​more than 6 hectares within the administrative boundaries of the Lernajur settlement of the Pambak community of Lori. The planting was completed at the end of November. Only local forest tree species were planted, mainly oak, birch, wild pear, wild apple, maple and yew.

ArmInfo. Within the framework  of the 16th session of the Conference to Combat Desertification, held  in Saudi Arabia, Germany confirmed its willingness to assist Armenia  in organizing the Conference on Biological Diversity (COP17). This  was stated by Niels Annen, the Parliamentary State Secretary to the  Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) of  Germany, at a meeting with Hakob Simidyan,  the Minister of   Environment.  After thanking the German side for their willingness to  provide support, the Minister emphasized: "Holding COP17 in Armenia  is a pivotal moment for us, and we want to organize it properly.  Therefore, it is important to exchange experiences with the German  side on ensuring the participation of different countries in the  forum, as well as the proper engagement of youth and women." He also  pointed out the effective high-level cooperation between the two  countries with an expanded agenda that goes beyond environmental  protection.
