ArmInfo.  An Armenian court has extended the pretrial detention of Captain Yeghishe Hakobyan, a defendant in the case involving the fatal fire at a military barracks in Azat village, for an additional three months. The ruling was handed down during today's session by Judge Vardan Harutyunyan, the  Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance of the Gegharkunik  Region.  "Having heard the arguments from both sides, the court has  decided to extend the detention of the accused, Yeghishe Hakobyan,  for another three months," the judge announced during the hearing.

ArmInfo. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Armenia has announced the detainment of political scientist Alen Ghevondyan, who faces charges of "calling for the seizure of power and the overthrow of the constitutional order via social media."

He announced this on his Facebook page.  Karapetyan explained that today, together with a film crew from the Armat Media website, he was supposed to be on the Georgian military road leading  to Russia, better known as "Upper Lars," and go live from there. 

ArmInfo. On June 12, the "Strong Armenia" bloc appealed to the Central Election Commission demanding that the results of the June 7 parliamentary elections be  declared invalid.

ArmInfo. The Armenian National Congress (ANC) party of Armenia's first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, stated that the June 7, 2026, elections to the  National Assembly of Armenia did not meet democratic standards for  free, fair, transparent, and competitive elections.

ArmInfo.The RA authorities are trying by all means possible to prevent the Prosperous Armenia Party from entering the country's parliament. The party's press secretary, Iveta Tonoyan, wrote this on her Facebook page.

ArmInfo.  The statement by Armenia's third president, Serzh Sargsyan, claiming that "Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is not running for a third term because the previous elections were snap elections," could strip the opposition of its sole political justification for removing him from power.  Political commentator Karpis Pashoyan, who participated in the recent  parliamentary elections alongside Edmon Marukyan, leader of the  Bright Armenia party, wrote  on his Facebook page.

ArmInfo. The people of Armenia cast their votes in a crucial election for their country's future and, in many ways, for the future of the South Caucasus  region, as noted in a statement issued by a group of European  Parliament members regarding the elections held in the country.

ArmInfo.  For the political opposition to accept parliamentary mandates despite  widespread violations during the June 7 elections is, to put it  mildly, illogical, according to Arpine Hovhannisyan, former  Vice-Speaker of the Armenian Parliament and former Minister of  Justice.

ArmInfo. Armenia's general election result signals broad policy continuity, possibly reinforcing the country's westward geopolitical trajectory and likely supporting further progress in the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, as stated in  Fitch Ratings report. However, the report emphasizes  that its  high exposure to Russia and its reliance on Russian energy remains a  significant economic vulnerability.

ArmInfo. Officials holding European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN) travel documents will soon be permitted to stay in the Republic of Armenia visa-free  for up to 180 days per year. The decision was officially approved  during a government meeting on June 11.

ArmInfo. Armenia will address issues arising from the pilot program for the implementation of the family welfare assessment system, currently being implemented in the Kotayk and Syunik regions. The RA government amended this program at its meeting on June 11.

ArmInfo.Armenian authorities have banned citizens arriving from abroad, particularly from Russia, from leaving the country, issuing summonses to participate in 25-day military training.
