ArmInfo. The situation regarding illegal drug trafficking and psychotropic drugs in Armenia was alarming, but in recent years, as a result of changes in state policy, certain positive trends have been recorded, as stated by   Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic Arpine Sargsyan during a  government meeting on June 5. According to her,  in 2018, there were  877  cases of such crimes, but by 2023, there was an increase in the  detection of these crimes, with the number reaching 5070.

Speaking at a press conference on May 21,  she noted that in 2024 alone, out of 40 registered cases of death in  the Armed Forces, only 4 were the result of ceasefire violations by  the Azerbaijani side. Statistics for the past five years also show  that 75-80 percent of cases are deaths in non-combat conditions. All  these cases are well known to both conscripts and their parents, who  are trying to avoid service in the Armed Forces by any means  possible.

MP Hovik Aghazaryan made  this assessment today during a conversation with journalists.
