ArmInfo. Arayik Khzmalyan has been  appointed as the Chairman of the Public Council. The relevant decree  was signed by Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan on April 9.   Arayik Khzmalyan has been serving as Deputy Minister of Education,  Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia since June 4,  2019. On July 17, 2023, he was elected as the  Director of  Matenadaran.

ArmInfo. Yerevan and Naples are set to  sign a cooperation and friendship agreement soon, as announced during  a meeting between Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan and Italian Ambassador  to Armenia Alessandro Ferranti.  As reported by the press service of  the Mayor's Office, the parties discussed the agenda of bilateral  relations and emphasized the significance of signing of a memorandum  of understanding between Yerevan and Rome in 2024.  Avinyan noted  that this memorandum has created a platform for cooperation between  the parties in  urban management.

ArmInfo. On April 9, Caucasus  correspondent Rayhan Demitri reported on the details of his visit to  Armenia on BBC World Service, presenting the progress of negotiations  on the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and highlighted  an important humanitarian issue - the issue of Armenian prisoners  held in Baku.  The journalist noted that last month both Armenia and  Azerbaijan stated that they have agreed  the text  of the treaty, but  the issue of prisoners is not part of the agreement.  Currently, a  trial is underway in Baku against 16 Armenians, one of whom is  billionaire philanthropist Ruben Vardanyan, who went on a hunger  strike in February, claiming a violation of his right to a fair  trial.
