Armenia`s lawyers start protests 

ArmInfo. The RA National Security Service has already notified the restriction of entry and exit of citizens to the village of Kirants, Tavush region. The head of the regional police department of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Mkrtchyan, told reporters about this on May 20, commenting on the accumulation of law enforcement forces around the village and the refusal to allow representatives of the "Tavush for the Motherland"  movement into this locality.

ArmInfo.The New Force party, led by ex-mayor of Yerevan Hayk Marutyan, is ready to support the Tavush for the Motherland movement. This is stated in Marutyan's statement on his Facebook page in connection with the proposal he received for a meeting from the leader of the movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan.

ArmInfo.Armenia's National Security Service (NSS) reported that the access to the Kirants village has been "temporarily restricted" out of "security and operational necessity." It said Armenian border guards subordinate to  the NSS are starting their deployment in and around Kirants.

ArmInfo. The leader of the "Kamk" ("Will") initiative Vahagn Chakhalyan, accused of committing hooliganism using information or communication technologies, was sent under house arrest by a court decision.

ArmInfo.The political forces participating in the discussion of the situation in Armenia agree on  one thing: the future prime minister of the country should be primate of the Tavush for the Motherland movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. The archbishop himself told reporters on May 18.

ArmInfo. The ruling "Civil Contract" party in Armenia has no plans to meet with the leader of  the protest movement, Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan. Sargis Khandanyan, member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the ruling political force, told reporters on May 17.

ArmInfo.The Azerbaijani court has once again extended the pre-trial detention of Ruben Vardanyan,  Armenian philanthropist, and former State Minister of Artsakh, who has been illegally detained in Baku since September 27, 2023.

ArmInfo.While Yerevan was content with formal documents, Baku actively worked to ensure that  Armenia's allies supported Azerbaijan, and at least took a neutral position. This is how political scientist Sergei Melkonyan commented on the visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to Baku and  what was done during the visit.

ArmInfo.Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan gave a manipulative answer to the question whether the Armenian side asked Moscow for Russian border guards to continue guarding the Armenian-Iranian and Armenian-Turkish borders, as stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

The Union of Journalists of Armenia informs with alarm about the increased pressure on journalists and the media in recent days, disrespectful treatment of them, insults, numerous cases of obstruction of the work of journalists and even threats to the life and health of journalists. This is stated in a statement by the Union.

It is obvious that at the moment the "Tavush for the Motherland" movement, led by the Primate of the Tavush Diocese Bagrat Galstanyan, does not have support from any foreign state or transnational network structure, stated Head of the Department of Iranian Studies of the Faculty of Oriental Studies of Yerevan State University (YSU), Vardan Voskanyan.
