ArmInfo. On April 9, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan of Armenia and Margus Tsaghkna of Estonia participated in the official opening ceremony of the Estonian Embassy in Yerevan. The event took place as part of Tsaghkna's official visit to Armenia.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, in his speech, Mirzoyan noted that he was delighted to join his Estonian counterpart in celebrating this significant milestone in Armenian- Estonian relations - the opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Yerevan. "Of course, we all understand that this decision was not easy, both in terms of its adoption and in terms of its promotion within all relevant departments of the Estonian government. Believe me, I know full well how difficult this is. We also have a special relationship with our colleagues in the Ministry of Finance and with all other partners, who, of course, welcome such decisions. And, seriously, this is truly a very important event. It undoubtedly reflects the commitment of Estonia, the Estonian government, and you personally, my dear friend, to the development of Armenian-Estonian relations, as well as to continuing to provide strong support to democracy in Armenia and the Armenian people in their quest for freedom, sovereignty, and, of course, territorial integrity and national well-being," the Armenian Foreign Minister noted.
The Armenian official added that Yerevan feels the support of its Estonian colleagues not only at the bilateral level, but also within the framework of Armenia-EU relations as a whole.
Tsaghkna, in turn, noted that during his last visit, he promised to open an embassy in Yerevan, and he has kept that promise. "Today, we are doing just that - opening the Estonian embassy in the very center of Yerevan. I can say that this year is truly a historic event. Estonia, as a small country, is watching as a number of countries, especially in Europe, close their embassies, and we are opening five new embassies. And the first in this series is the Estonian embassy in the Republic of Armenia. This is our priority, because I see that you are leading Armenia towards peace, European values, and prosperity, and we want to be your friends," the Estonian Foreign Minister added.
Tsaghkna also added that the Armenian authorities are making historic decisions today not only for their country, but for the region and for all of Europe. "I'm pleased that our Prime Minister will soon visit Armenia, as will many leaders of the European Community and the heads of the European Union. But now, something of very practical, bilateral significance: today, we launched a practical cybersecurity exercise involving over 10 different teams, testing how to counter various attacks in real-world conditions. Furthermore, a business plan was developed to find new markets for Armenian companies. This is already a very practical level. I can assure you that we are already here, next to you, and there will be more to come," he added.
