ArmInfo.Armenia has not yet notified of its desire to withdraw the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), freeze, or reduce its participation. CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told Izvestia.
"No, there are no plans [to reduce cooperation between Armenia and the CIS]. [Yerevan is interested in contacts with the CIS] in many areas: economically, of course, politically, and humanitarianly. They have certain doubts and complications with the CSTO in the military-political sphere. Otherwise, as far as the CIS is concerned, there are no issues," he said.
Recall, Armenia is boycotting events within the CSTO framework. In February 2024, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia had effectively frozen its participation in the CSTO, as the organization had failed to fulfill its obligations to Armenia, which would inevitably have consequences. On September 18, 2024, at the Second GlobalArmenian Summit, Pashinyan stated that the CSTO posed threats to Armenia's security, its continued existence, sovereignty, and statehood.
