ArmInfo. The first TUMO educational center for creative technologies has opened in Uruguay.
Corporacion America Airports invested $10 million in the construction of the 2,500-square-meter building. The center includes a spacious self-study room, a robotics room, various workshops, a music studio, a rehearsal room, and a recording studio. It is equipped with the latest technology: 250 modern computers, musical instruments (guitars, drums, pianos, bass guitars), production equipment, digital equalizers, soundproof booths, and more.
Designed for teenagers aged 12-18, the TUMO Center offers an alternative educational experience based on self-study, hands-on workshops, and projects supported by mentors and industry experts.
According to a statement from Armenia International Airports CJSC, the Center will be able to accommodate 1,000 students per week, but plans to expand its capacity to 1,500 students per week in the future, given high demand.
Martin Eurnekian, CEO of Corporacion America Airports, emphasized the importance of creating institutions that foster the development of young talent: "Education is a tool for transformation and inclusion, which is why we believe in initiatives like TUMO and are committed to supporting their development in Uruguay." TUMO International Director Chris Shahinian stated that at TUMO, teenagers don't just acquire skills-they learn how to learn. "They explore technology and design, experiment, fail, try again, and in the process, discover their potential. That's why this center isn't just a building, but a commitment to the youth of Uruguay," he said.
During the event, Google Public Policy and Government Affairs Manager Tamara Kolodenko announced that Google will collaborate with TUMO in Uruguay over the next two years, providing students with access to high-quality education, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to the source, the opening of the TUMO center in Uruguay took place in the presence of the President of the Republic, Professor Yamandu Orsi, and representatives of national and local governments.
The TUMO Center for Creative Technologies was founded in Armenia and today operates in more than ten countries. With over 35,000 active students and over 80,000 alumni, the program has become one of the most innovative educational models in the world.
