ArmInfo. The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has confirmed the detention of former government officials.
"As part of a criminal investigation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Committee, several individuals, including the head of the State Property Management Department and other former high-ranking officials, have been detained on charges of committing criminal offenses under various articles of the RA Criminal Code. Due to the interests of the preliminary investigation, we cannot provide any further information," Marina Ohanjanyan, press secretary for the Committee's chairperson, told ArmInfo, without naming any specific individuals. Meanwhile, it has become known that the suspect is Arman Sahakyan, a former member of the National Assembly, former head of the State Property Management Department, and the son of former NA Speaker Galust Sahakyan.
It should be noted that back in 2020, Arman Sahakyan was named as a defendant in a criminal case related to the alienation of a land plot near a Yerevan school, along with several other individuals. He was granted bail of 5 million drams as a preventive measure. In 2024, the committee reported that Arman Sahakyan had repaid 178 million drams in damages he had caused to the state. In January 2025, a court decision imposed an alternative preventive measure on Arman Sahakyan-administrative supervision. Arman Sahakyan served as the Head of the State Property Management Department under the Government of the Republic of Armenia from 2011 to 2018. Former Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Artem Asatryan was also detained in the same criminal case.
