ArmInfo. The peace that could come to Armenia with Iran's rise as a regional power has nothing to do with the false "peace" supposedly brought by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Levon Zurabyan, Deputy Chairman of the Armenian National Congress (ANC), stated this on his Facebook page, amid the US's acceptance of Iran's 10 demands ahead of a two-week ceasefire.
It should be noted that Zurabyan has been nominated by the ANC as a candidate for Prime Minister of Armenia, representing their political party. According to Zurabyan, last night the world, and naturally Armenia, avoided a major catastrophe that could have occurred if US President Donald Trump had carried out his threat to "destroy an entire civilization" against Iran. "The deadline was last night, but through Pakistani mediation, we managed to secure official statements from the US, Iran, and Israel regarding a two-week ceasefire, during which a final peace is planned to be established," the politician recalled.
Zurabyan believes that if these plans come to fruition, Iran will be considered a historic victory, having withstood a military attack by two nuclear powers, as Trump agreed to accept the 10-point document drafted by Iran as a basis for negotiations. "This completely changes the architecture of our region and makes Iran a powerful regional power, and, given its control of the Strait of Hormuz, a great global peacemaker. Even if this peace fails, Iran has already proven its military and economic potential, which the superpowers will be forced to reckon with," the politician is confident.
Moreover, according to him, if this peace is established and consolidated, one can be filled with optimism regarding the prospects for establishing peace around Armenia. "It will be possible to say that, indeed, with the strengthening of Iran, peace will come to Armenia too. But, of course, this has nothing to do with the false "peace" allegedly brought by Pashinyan," Zurabyan concluded. Let us recall that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi published on his Twitter page (X) a list of 10 points that the United States agreed to for the establishment of a ceasefire, which will take effect on April 10. In particular, we are talking about: a non-aggression pledge; maintaining Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz; agreement to enrich uranium; the lifting of all primary sanctions; the lifting of all secondary sanctions; termination of all UN Security Council resolutions; termination of all IAEA Board of Governors resolutions; payment of compensation to Iran; the withdrawal of American troops from the region; an end to the war on all fronts, including the war against Hezbollah in Lebanon. The US and Iran talks will be held in Islamabad on April 10 in the presence of Pakistani representatives who will act as mediators.
