ArmInfo. On Motherhood and Beauty Day, April 7, the Azerbaijani occupation regime destroyed the "Motherhood" sculpture, installed near a maternity hospital in Stepanakert, as reported by the press service of the Artsakh Tourism and Culture Development Agency.
The statement emphasized that this is not just another case of cultural heritage loss, but part of a consistent policy aimed at erasing memory, identity, and presence - something that can be described as "the destruction of the homeland." "The image of mother and child as a universal symbol of life, continuation, and hope has once again become a target in a reality where culture is viewed not as a value, but as an obstacle.
Such actions are not only cultural vandalism, but also a clear message of intent to erase the Armenian trace from the territory of Artsakh, to change its appearance, leaving it without memory and without a past. On this day, we bow to all the mothers who have borne the brunt of war, loss, and forced displacement. And we state: memory cannot be erased. It lives on in people, in speech, in culture," the Agency concluded.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan is pursuing a policy not only to destroy Artsakh's cultural heritage but also to alter the architectural appearance of the occupied territories, thereby attempting to destroy the cultural memory of the Artsakh people and their desire to return to their lands.
