ArmInfo. Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan has ordered public transportation drivers to assist with fare collection. He announced this at a working meeting at City Hall on April 6.
Avinyan called the drivers' lack of involvement in this process unacceptable and emphasized that overtime payments directly depend on the effectiveness of the collection process. "I want to make this clear and live on air - there cannot be a situation where we pay our employees, the drivers, the normal amount of overtime, while they fail to participate in any work processes, in particular, by failing to assist with the collection of public transportation fares," the mayor stated. He also noted that this isn't the fault of the drivers themselves, but rather an unacceptable approach on the part of the management of Yerevan Bus CJSC. Addressing the company's director, Bakur Karapetyan, the mayor recalled that he had been vocal about the unacceptability of this approach from the very first day.
Karapetyan, in turn, assured that, starting today, drivers have been briefed on this issue.
Furthermore, Avinyan instructed that financial statements on expenses for the current year be presented at the next working meeting, as well as an explanation of the intended purpose of the requested additional funds.
