ArmInfo. The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has developed a program for leading the country out of the current situation and is ready to provide it to any opposition force if necessary. This was announced by its leader, third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, at the 18th Party Congress.
Without elaborating, he noted that the document addresses the need to create an environment of solidarity within the country in terms of national security, punish the unforgivable crimes committed by the current regime, restore the combat readiness of the Armed Forces in line with the challenges of the 21st century, form a highly qualified professional diplomatic corps, restore relations with allies and partners, while clearly distinguishing between allies and partners, and give new meaning to the political, economic, and security components of foreign relations. "Our vision is not a list of promises and wishes, but a moral responsibility," he said.
The former president also voiced the RPA's radical position on the existence of any corridor passing through Armenia's sovereign territory, no matter what it's called. Foreign policy, he said, must be balanced and serve the interests of the Armenian people. In this regard, he pointed to shortcomings, noting that "the real Armenia" is currently isolated internationally.
Among the problems in foreign policy, the former president cited the crisis in relations with Russia, the lack of security guarantees due to the frozen membership in the CSTO, and relations with Iran, which are based on fear. "We must not be a client state, an ethnographic museum, or a parasitic state," Sargsyan emphasized.
