ArmInfo. As a result of pressure from the Turkish government, particularly against the Republican People's Party, the largest opposition force in the Turkish parliament, the congress of the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY) in Istanbul was disrupted.
According to the ARF press service, a delegation from the ARF Youth Union also participated in the congress and raised a number of key issues, including the right of return for the people of Artsakh, the immediate and unconditional release of Armenian prisoners of war held in Baku, as well as the regression of democracy in Armenia and the persecution of opposition forces.
"Under the pretext of security measures, police stormed the congress premises and declared that political discussions or debates would not be permitted. As a result, the congress was suspended, and the adoption of all resolutions was postponed. Only the elections took place, after which the congress closed without the adoption of any resolutions or substantive political discussions," the ARF concluded.
