


ArmInfo. On April 3, Sargis Khandanyan, Chairman of the NA Foreign Relations Committee, met with Muhammad Al-Sheikhli, Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Republic of Armenia.
As reported by the NA press service, welcoming the guest, Sargis Khandanyan noted that the friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries have always been a solid foundation for the continued development of cooperation between Armenia and Iraq. He emphasized the importance of developing and expanding interstate and parliamentary relations between Armenia and Iraq. Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, Muhammad Al-Sheikhli noted the "dynamic development" of bilateral relations, pointing to the increasing number of signed agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) as evidence of a strengthening partnership.
In light of the complex current geopolitical landscape, both parties agreed that establishing lasting regional peace is not just a diplomatic goal, but a "vital condition" for the prosperity of both states.
In the context of developing interparliamentary relations, the importance of parliamentary friendship groups and reciprocal visits was emphasized, as well as the intensification of programs aimed at promoting interaction between the Armenian and Iraqi parliamentary friendship groups.
