Armenian, Lithuanian MPs discuss defense and security programs in  Armenia 

ArmInfo.  On March 30, the Chair of the RA NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security Andranik Kocharyan and the Committee member Gurgen Melkonyan met with the delegation led by the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Remigijus Motuzas.

Welcoming the guests, Andranik Kocharyan emphasized the friendly  relations between Armenia and Lithuania, noting in this context that  the delegation's visit coincides with the 35th anniversary of  Lithuania's recognition of the independence of the Republic of  Armenia and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two  countries.

The interlocutors discussed a number of issues of mutual interest,  which related to geopolitical events, programmes implemented in the  field of defense and security, the peace agenda, reforms implemented  in the RA Armed Forces, the study of the experience of the Baltic  countries in this field, measures aimed at having a professional  army, and other issues.

Parliamentary cooperation between sectoral committees was emphasized.
