
ArmInfo. On March 27, International Theater Day, the 25th annual Armenian Theater Awards, "Artavazd," traditionally took place at the Stanislavsky Yerevan Russian Drama Theater.
Actors Greta Mejlumyan and David Hakobyan received special "Artavazd" awards for their contribution to theater.
One of the most touching moments was the presentation of the special "Artavazd" award to Yuri Navoyan, head of the "Dialogue" organization, which supported the resumption of the V. Papazyan Stepanakert Drama Theater (SDT) in Armenia. Taking the stage, Navoyan noted that the award came as a complete surprise to him. He said that the Stepanakert Theater today serves as a beacon, a pillar of strength, dignity, and confidence for our compatriots from Artsakh. Navoyan thanked the theater staff for their cooperation and work, promising that the day is not far off when the SDT will be included in the program of international theater festivals.
The most award-winning production this year was Gor Margaryan's "The Pit," which premiered in 2025 at the K. Stanislavsky Russian Drama Theater. Bbased on A. Kuprin's novella, the production was awarded five Artavazds, including the most significant ones-Best Production of the Year and Best Direction.
Narek Baghdasaryan (Sos Sargsyan Hamazgayin Theater) won the "Best Actor" award for his role as Antaeus in "Penelope, Oh, Penelope." Tatev Hovakimyan (Mher Mkrtchyan Theater) was named Best Actress for her role as Anna in "If You Died." Sasha Sukiasyan (Young Spectator's Theater) won the Best Supporting Actor award for his role as Peter Smith in the play "The Taste of Honey."
Awards were given also in the nominations: The Best Youth Performance, The Best Youth Art Director, The Best Young Actors etc.
