


ArmInfo. During his visit to Kapan, Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Khalil Shirgholami met with Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan.
According to the press service of the Iranian Embassy in Armenia, Shirgholami emphasized Syunik's strategic importance as a gateway from Iran to Armenia and from Armenia to Iran, describing Syunik as a stable, developed, and prosperous region, which aligns with the strategy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The parties also discussed programs and initiatives aimed at economic, cultural, and scientific cooperation, as well as the development of humanitarian ties. They also touched upon programs to establish sister-city relations between cities in Iran and the Syunik region, and agreed on their promotion and implementation. During his visit, Shirgholami also visited the Noravan substation, which is part of the third high-voltage Armenia-Iran line.
The Iranian ambassador reviewed the work being carried out on the project, the progress achieved, and the new phase of its implementation. Praising the efforts of those responsible, he emphasized the need to expedite the project's implementation and urged those responsible to make greater efforts to complete it on time.
The substation is a part of the 400 kV power transmission line between Iran and Armenia, with a capacity of 1,100 megawatts. The transmission line starts at the Iranian border in Norduz and extends to the Armenian capital, Yerevan. The 270-kilometer-long transmission line involves the construction of transmission lines and related substations, such as the Noravan substation.
