ArmInfo.Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan insists that incident in central Yerevan yesterday, where he swore at a citizen and demanded that he be brought in, was an organized provocation.
"I believe that this was all organized, and I know who orchestrated it. I believe that as the elections approach, we will see more incidents like this," Simonyan told reporters outside the office of the ruling 'Civil Contract" party on March 27.
Simonyan believes there are two or three entities that can judge whether his behavior was proportionate. The first is law enforcement agencies, the second is the citizenry of the Republic of Armenia, the people of the Republic of Armenia, and the third is the "Civil Contract" party. "If my party discovers a violation, it will report it. There is no such discussion at the moment," the NA Speaker stated.
"Stop saying, 'You are officials, you are the NA Speaker,' and thinking that Alen and others can say anything. Let no one be deceived about our upbringing," the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament said. "This was a provocation orchestrated by a political entity," Alen Simonyan concluded.
