
ArmInfo. The internal voting of the ruling "Civil Contract" is underway, as announced by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on his Facebook page, sharing a video.
"We are electing a candidate for the Prime Minister of Armenia and determining the order of the first 50 spots on the electoral list," Pashinyan wrote.
It should be noted that the next parliamentary elections are scheduled for June 7, 2026. Armenia is a parliamentary republic. The political force that receives the majority in parliament as a result of the elections will have the right to elect the Prime Minister of the Republic. The following parties have already announced their participation in the elections: the ruling "Civil Contract" party (candidate for prime minister Nikol Pashinyan); the "Strong Armenia" party (candidate for prime minister is businessman Samvel Karapetyan, who is currently under house arrest for inciting a power seizure); the "Prosperous Armenia" (candidate for prime minister has not yet been announced, the party leader is businessman Gagik Tsarukyan, who previously stated that he is not running for this post); "Armenian National Congress" (candidate for prime minister is Levon Zurabyan); the "Republic"party (candidate for prime minister is former prime minister Aram Sargsyan); "Wings of Unity" political initiative (candidate for prime minister is former ombudsman Arman Tatoyan); DOG party (candidate for prime minister is blogger Vardan Ghukasyan, who is currently in an American prison); the "I Am Against Everyone" movement (has not yet disclosed their candidate for prime minister). The Republican party of Armenia, led by former President Serzh Sargsyan, is still undecided on whether they will participate in the elections. The "Homeland" party, led by former Director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan, has decided not to participate in the elections.
