ArmInfo. On March 26, the plenary session of the National Assembly of Armenia continued discussions on the election of the Chairman of the Information Systems Regulatory Commission. The RA government nominated former Deputy Chairman of the Central Bank Nerses Yeritsyan for the position.
RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan presented his biography, professional skills, and long-standing career. Nerses Yeritsyan is an economist by profession and has served as Director of the Information Systems Agency of Armenia Foundation since 2023.
In his speech, Nerses Yeritsyan thanked the government for its trust and presented his vision and ideas for his activities if elected to the post. He spoke about the digital transformation process, the formation of a competitive digital society and economy, and touched upon the issue of ensuring cybersecurity, the challenges in this area, and other topics. Yeritsyan noted, in particular, that according to various estimates, IT spending already accounts for 0.5% of the country's GDP, and there is every reason to expect it to reach 3%. According to the European Commission, this could lead to savings of up to 3.6% for citizens.
According to the same data, if the sector grows from 1.1% to 2.5%, this would lead to significant savings for the entire national economy. The use of electronic signatures alone could lead to savings of up to 3% of GDP.
"Having earned your trust, I am ready to contribute my knowledge, experience, and the best international skills in public and corporate governance to work with the members of the Commission to create an exemplary and competitive government structure," the candidate emphasized.
