The Anti-Corruption Court has accepted for review the Prosecutor General's Office's claim to confiscate assets of illegal origin from Argam Norayrovich Hovsepyan, director of the National Bureau of Expertise (his powers have been suspended due to criminal prosecution), and individuals associated with him.
According to the supervisory authority, the following are to be confiscated in favor of the Republic of Armenia: five real estate properties located in Yerevan, two of which are in the Kentron (Center) administrative district; one vehicle; and 162,812,000 drams, not confirmed by the person's legal income, of illegal origin, transferred to a bona fide purchaser, or not subject to identification and confiscation based on the legal regulation of Part 4 of Article 20 of the RA Law "On Confiscation of Assets of Illegal Origin." According to the Prosecutor General's Office, 135,297 drams (approximately 200,000 drams) of remaining illegal income are also subject to confiscation.
As a reminder, Argam Hovsepyan took over the SNCO in December 2017. He has worked at the National Bureau of Expertise since its founding in 2005.
The National Bureau of Expertise is the largest organization in the field of forensic examinations.
Operating as part of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Bureau of Expertise was established by a decision of the RA government on July 22, 2004, as part of the intergovernmental agreement between the governments of the Republic of Armenia and the United States of America on cooperation in drug control and law enforcement. The organization is a full member of the European Network of Forensic Expertise and actively cooperates with similar organizations in many countries.
