ArmInfo. As part of the traditional two-month Francophonie festival, a digital version of the film "We Are Our Mountains" by renowned Armenian film director Henrik Malyan was screened with French subtitles at the Council of Europe Cinema on March 25, at the initiative of the Permanent Mission of Armenia to the Council of Europe.
According to the Armenian Embassy to the Council of Europe, in his opening remarks, Armenia's Permanent Representative Armen Papikyan emphasized that the screening of "We Are Our Mountains," a masterpiece of Armenian cinema created over half a century ago, at the headquarters of the Council of Europe, a bastion of human rights and democracy, is motivated by the universal themes raised in the film. "Hrant Matevosyan's short story, spiced with subtle humor, has been transformed into a philosophical reflection and a message of profound humanism thanks to Henrik Malyan's film adaptation. The film reminds us of the importance of bridging issues and perspectives through dialogue and mutual understanding, as well as the priority of constructive dialogue in the spirit of shared values and coexistence-values that both the Council of Europe and La Francophonie support and promote," the Armenian Permanent Mission said in a statement.
Ambassadors, diplomats, and officials from Council of Europe member states attended the screening. The film was organized in cooperation with the Armenian Cinematography Foundation.
