ArmInfo. The Armenian Foreign Ministry is planning to contact its Russian counterparts regarding the cancellation of tickets for a National Assembly deputy from the ruling faction. The RA Foreign Minister, Ararat Mirzoyan, made this statement during a government hour on March 25, responding to a question from MP Maria Ghazaryan.
The MP, in particular, noted that she was scheduled to fly to Ashgabat for an interparliamentary meeting on March 26-27, but the Russian airline canceled the flight, which was supposed to transit through the Russian Federation. She raised the question of whether the Russian side should provide an explanation for this matter.
In response, Mirzoyan noted that the request to the Russian side will be sent through diplomatic channels, but it will occur after certain details have been clarified. "If this is Russia's stance, we will propose changing it," the foreign minister said, adding that this is not the first such incident involving the blocking of entry for Armenian representatives. Something similar previously occurred with the head of the Artik community. Mirzoyan again raised the issue of "hybrid threats," noting that they should not be understood as limited to actions coordinated by the top leadership of a given country. He believes that such incidents, as well as inappropriate statements about the Armenian prime minister in Russian media, negatively impact bilateral relations.
