ArmInfo. The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has filed an appeal against the acquittal of former head of the State Control Service under the Prime Minister, David Sanasaryan. This information was reported to an ArmInfo correspondent by the supervisory authority.
Recall, in late May of this year, Judge David Balayan of the Yerevan Criminal Court of General Jurisdiction acquitted David Sanasaryan of abuse of office after a 5.5 year trial. The court's decision was based on the lack of evidence.
Recall, on April 18, 2019, Sanasaryan was charged under Article 308, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, for abuse of office. The investigation claimed that several SGC employees had illegally intervened in a tender for the purchase of hemodialysis equipment. Samvel Adyan, head of the Service's procurement control department, Gevorg Khachatryan, chief specialist at the same department, and Taron Avetisyan, accountant at UN Zorashen, were arrested in connection of this criminal case. The criminal prosecution against the latter was dropped during the trial due to the expiration of the statute of limitations for criminal liability. Sanasaryan himself denied the allegations.
