
ArmInfo. On March 25, RA President Vahagn Khachaturyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Armenia, Christos Sofianopoulos, on the occasion of the national holiday, Independence Day.
According to the presidential press service, Vahagn Khachaturyan welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated the Greek leadership and friendly people on the national holiday, emphasizing that relations between the two countries hold a special place on Armenia's foreign policy agenda. He noted that the ties between the two peoples have a centuries-old history and are based on mutual trust and a willingness to support each other in difficult times.
In turn, the Ambassador expressed gratitude for the reception, noting that relations with Armenia represent not only a historical legacy for Greece, but also an important area of modern cooperation. He emphasized that bilateral ties have noticeably intensified in recent years, encompassing new areas and creating new opportunities for cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties thoroughly discussed the prospects for developing bilateral cooperation, highlighting several priority areas. Specifically, they discussed strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic ties, promoting investment programs, and intensifying cultural and educational exchanges. Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in high technology and defense, taking into account existing potential and mutual interests.
During the meeting, regional developments were also touched upon. The interlocutors discussed current challenges and exchanged views on possible ways to effectively address them, emphasizing the importance of joint approaches. It was noted that in this context, efforts aimed at establishing peace, ensuring long- term stability, and developing democratic institutions that can contribute to the formation of a predictable and secure environment in the region are of particular importance.
