Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Robert Abisogomonyan and Kaori Ishikawa, Representative of the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in Georgia and responsible for relations with the South Caucasus, exchanged views on existing sectoral cooperation between Armenia and UN Women and prospects for its expansion at a meeting in Yerevan.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the parties also touched upon the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP17), which will be held in Armenia this year. In this context, Abisogomonyan presented a concept for the conference, aimed at an inclusive and multi-stakeholder organization. The importance of initiatives aimed at ensuring women's leadership on biodiversity issues and promoting gender equality was emphasized. Issues related to possible cooperation within the framework of the Third National Action Plan of the Republic of Armenia for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 were also discussed.
