ArmInfo.Yerevan is joining the global environmental initiative Earth Hour. According to the press service of the Yerevan Municipality, on March 28, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, outdoor lighting on the capital's main streets and buildings will be switched off.
The municipality also confirmed that Yerevan has been undergoing a large-scale modernization of its outdoor lighting network in recent years: old systems are being replaced with modern, energy-saving solutions, reducing light pollution and improving nighttime conditions.
Earth Hour is the largest public environmental campaign in human history, organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Earth Hour is an initiative to encourage individuals, businesses and governments around the world to take accountability for their ecological foodprint and engage in dialogue and resource exchange that provides real solutions to our environmental challenges. Armenia has been regularly participating in this initiative since 2008.
