ArmInfo. A criminal case against a medical worker at the Yerevan Garrison Hospital for the negligent death of a serviceman has been sent with an indictment to a supervisory authority with a motion for approval and referral to court, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reports.
According to the information, during the preliminary investigation, clear factual evidence was obtained indicating that between July 19 and August 6, 2024, the resident at the Yerevan Garrison Hospital failed to conduct a complete and adequate examination of the patient's existing pathology. As a result, complications could not be prevented.
In particular, kidney damage and worsening of long-standing pulmonary pathology were not detected. Ineffective treatment of the serviceman led to the late diagnosis of Wegener's syndrome.
The patient was then belatedly transferred to another multidisciplinary hospital, where the terminal stage of Wegener's granulomatosis was confirmed, leading to the soldier's death, the investigative body said in a statement.
A criminal case was opened against the resident at the Yerevan Garrison Hospital under Part 2 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code (failure to perform or improper performance of professional duties by a medical professional, resulting in the death of a person through negligence).
