


ArmInfo. A stable operational situation was observed at Armenia's borders throughout 2025.
Defense Minister Suren Papikyan stated this at a meeting of the RA National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security on March 20.
According to him, the calm situation at the border is due to the agreement with Azerbaijan initialed in Washington on August 8, 2025. As a result, no fatalities or injuries were recorded as a result of military action last year.
The minister added that in 2025, work was carried out to certify military personnel, expand the beneficiaries of the "Fatherland Defender" program, develop the institution of professional sergeants, and prepare for the development of new programs. A total of 6,270 military personnel have been certified under the certification program alone. Since the system's introduction, 73% of all applicants have passed. Another 1,777 conscripts have participated in the "Defender of the Fatherland" program, 180 more than in 2024. As of today, the total number of participants since the program's inception has exceeded 5,200. The number of professional sergeants also increased by 120 last year.
The minister also reported that construction work continued in 2025 at 163 sites, totaling 48 billion drams.
